OPEN SPACE – OPEN MIND
Open Space

COOPERATION BETWEEN DIFFERENT INSTITUTIONS AND THE REMOVING OF OBSTACLES CREATES RESEARCH, TRANSFER AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FUTURE. THE BUILDING, CONCEIVED AS AN OPEN SPACE, PROMOTES THE EXCHANGE BETWEEN PEOPLE, INSPIRES THE REMOVAL OF BARRIERS AND THUS CREATES SPACE FOR INNOVATION.

Through future-oriented architecture, shared challenges and an infrastructure that invites people to do things, a lighthouse and an important think tank for the new small and medium-sized businesses in UrbanLand OWL is created. The Lippe district, the Paderborn-Lippe District Craftsmen's Association and the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts are creating an environment in which people from different disciplines can talk and share their knowledge by setting up and sharing laboratories and creative room concepts. This creates potential for start-ups and innovations beyond the individual institutions and serves as a model for the new medium-sized businesses in UrbanLand OWL.

The building concept was developed by an interdisciplinary team. The architecture follows the guiding principle of cooperation. This can be seen in the interplay of open and closed areas and future workshops, which invite people from the region to the InnovationSPIN and enable exchange. The architecture creates space for cooperation and innovation.

THE NEW CENTER AT THE INNOVATION CAMPUS LEMGO

THE INNOVATION CAMPUS LEMGO IS BASED ON THE IDEA THAT INNOVATION REQUIRES THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS BETWEEN PEOPLE. THE NEW CENTER ON THE INNOVATION CAMPUS PROVIDES A PLACE FOR THIS EXCHANGE.

With the Innovation Campus Lemgo (ICL) , an innovation ecosystem is developing - firmly embedded in the OWL region - in which education, research, business and society are linked and thus become a driver for regional growth and digital change. The ICL addresses sectors that have not been considered in this form in rural areas. The aim is to meet the specific needs of different companies with regard to digital change by means of training programs in the skilled trades and pioneering educational concepts. At the ICL, cooperation between schools of the general education system, vocational training schools, university, non-university research institutions, industry and trade is to be enabled and expanded. In this way, education, science, business and the skilled trades work together across existing barriers in an innovation chain.

The "Mobility" innovation laboratory is oriented towards the guiding idea of a makers´ space for future-oriented mobility solutions. People from different research disciplines work together here. At the same time, the laboratory area, which will be located in a highly visible position on the first floor of the InnovationSPIN, will offer insights into the mobility of the future.
