The REGIONALE 2022 is successful and moves East Westphalia-Lippe positively and sustainably! This message was the focus of the UrbanLand Event on August 28, 2020 in the Schüco Arena Bielefeld. Around 50 guests followed the program with prominent discussion partners such as State Secretary Dr. Jan Heinisch, NRW Ministry for Homeland, Municipal Affairs, Construction and Equality, District Council President Judith Pirscher and Professor Dr. Rainer Danielzyk. Some 50 more people were on site at the Innovation Campus Lemgo and on the Neuer Kohlenufer Minden. The locations were connected live with Bielefeld. The livestream recorded over 200 hits.
"REGIONALS are an important tool within the framework of the state structural policy for the promotion of regions. With its vision of UrbanLand, OWL is taking advantage of this special opportunity and showing how sustainable and future-oriented impulses can be set - with outstanding projects and an overall approach for a liveable region in town and country. I am impressed by what is already visible today", State Secretary Dr. Jan Heinisch concluded.
Two and a half years after the start of the thematic work at OstWestfalenLippe GmbH, the UrbanLand Event offered an overview of current processes, projects and highlighted key topics. "What is and remains central is the view on the strengths of the region and how these can be used to offer people of all ages an optimal combination of residing, working and living according to their individual wishes. REGIONALE 2022 tackles the problem of the different development dynamics in urban and rural areas in a targeted manner and brings East Westphalia-Lippe together. Combining forces and the courage to develop are the criteria for success", emphasizes District Administrator Manfred Müller, Chairman of the UrbanLand Board, the decision-making body of the REGIONALE.
During the process of structural development in certain regions outstanding solutions will be qualified. The newest five REGIONALE projects were appreciated during UrbanLandParty and introduced as living examples of the UrbanLand OWL concept:
The OWL-Culture-Platform of OWL GmbH, the company axon and the University of Paderborn stands for an attractive recreational offer and is an intelligent web solution that combines all cultural offerings of the region.
The Health Center Oerlinghausen as part of the framework concept guLIP - Healthy Lippe stands for good centralized health care in the district of Lippe.
The Akzelerator.OWL of the University of Paderborn aims at the sustainable strengthening of the start-up culture in Paderborn and beyond.
The multimodal transport system of the KVG Lippe creates a networked offer that enables the people of Lippe to get from house to house in comfort.
The RichterHaus der Generationen in the city of Nieheim is an example of attractive residential development through the revival of the architectural heritage.
Panelist Professor Dr. Rainer Danielzyk, geographer and spatial planner, Leibniz University of Hanover, pointed out: "The UrbanLand concept of REGIONALE 2022 hits the nerve of the times and provides exemplary solutions, for example for the networking of city and countryside. This is already visible now. At the same time, global challenges such as demographics, climate change and urbanization are in sight".
On the podium of the Schüco Arena, the other panelists, District Council President Judith Pirscher, Rudolf Delius (Deputy Chairman of the OWL GmbH Partners' Meeting), Petra Pigerl-Radtke (Bielefeld Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Prof. Ingeborg Schramm-Wölk (Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences) gave the region a good interim evaluation: OWL is making good use of the REGIONALE to arm itself for the future in topics such as the optimization of mobility offers, neighborhood development and innovation infrastructure.
Live broadcasts to project locations addressed two central REGIONALE topics: In Lemgo the focus was on strengthening the interaction between business and science and how REGIONALE projects contribute to this: No fewer than five projects from Paderborn, Lemgo, Bielefeld, Detmold and Hille showcase innovative think tanks for medium-sized businesses with different orientations. From skilled crafts and trades and creative industries to recycling management. The REGIONALE participants Professor Jürgen Krahl (President TH OWL), Michael Lutter (Paderborn-Lippe District Craftsmen´s Association), Dr. Claudia Martin (University Bielefeld), Prof. René Fahr (University Paderborn), Prof. Stefan Witte (TH OWL), Prof. Gunther Olesch (Phoenix Contact) and Sarah Golcher (Waste Disposal Operations District Minden-Lübbecke) presented innovation and transfer facilities such as the InnovationSPIN Lemgo or the founder hotspot Akzelerator.OWL Paderborn during the live broadcast.
At the Fach-Werk on the site of the Neues Kohlenufer in Minden Minden's Mayor Michael Jäcke, Lars Bursian (Head of Minden Building Department), the Mayor of Gütersloh Henning Schulz, Claudia Warnecke (Head of Building Department Paderborn), Hans-Jörg Schmidt (Managing Director of Aufbaugemeinschaft Espelkamp GmbH) and Matthias Rottmann (De Zwarte Hond) discussed the topic of vital neighborhood development for OWL: Mixed urban quarters and new residential buildings are being created in large and small towns throughout OWL. Everywhere answers are being sought to the questions of how we want to live in the future.
OWL GmbH Managing Director Herbert Weber and REGIONALE Director Annette Nothnagel were delighted with the successful event. "The experiment was well received and we reached many people via the livestream from three locations in OWL. This enabled us to give a strong sign of life and demonstrate: The REGIONALE 2022 is successful," says Herbert Weber.
East Westphalia-Lippe is organizing the REGIONALE 2022 under the heading "The new UrbanLand". The aim is to strengthen the equality of living conditions in town and countryside. In order to guarantee the quality of the projects, potential REGIONALE projects for East Westphalia-Lippe go through a three-stage selection and qualification process from C status to B status and A status. Only then do the project ideas become a REGIONALE 2022 project.
